About The Position

REX is rapidly expanding our presence and expanding nationwide! We are excited to be entering the New York market and we are seeking a sales and business development superstar to work with the REX team and our home buyers and sellers in the in the Long Island and surrounding area.  REX home sellers only pay a 2% fee for the entire transaction and we go around the MLS to target home buyers directly with sophisticated marketing that we are pioneering in real estate. Transactions are managed with support from the REX tech platform and team, which include engineers, marketers, customer support, transaction coordinators, attorneys and a New York licensed broker.  The REX Agent will leverage the platform, marketing efforts, and team to show homes, attract buyers and sellers, and manage relationships through to successful closings.

Job Responsibilities

With a deep understanding of the REX brand, the real estate transaction process, the New York market, the REX platform, business model and goals, the REX Agent will:

  • Manage the home selling and purchase process, working with the REX broker, marketing team, operations, transaction coordinator, and customer service as needed
    • Arrange for photographer and manage photo selection
    • Work with seller and REX product team to be sure the home profile is created and beautiful
    • Show the home, address questions, host open houses with potential buyers – or manage Associate Agents to do so
    • Communicate our efforts and progress to sellers
    • Assist buyers and sellers with offers and negotiation, within REX’s guidelines
    • Once an offer is accepted, work with a REX attorney to ensure a smooth escrow and closing process
  • Be accountable for customer satisfaction / delight
    • Be the REX point person for buyers and sellers; provide your mobile number and be available as much as possible with REX team backup
    • Respond to customer questions, drawing upon the time and expertise of REX personnel and key vendors or contractors in the areas of engineering, product, marketing, sales, legal, and transaction management
  • Collect seller leads whenever possible during buyer marketing communications with the goal of converting actual and potential buyers into REX sellers
  • Provide expertise on the home buying and selling to the broader REX team suggesting improvements to our marketing and operations
    • Integrate closely with inside sales and customer service; be a resource for them, providing input to scripts, question triage, and answers to questions as needed
  • Recruit and supervise Associate Agents and Showing Reps – find 2-3 local, part time people to open homes for showings and open houses
  • Comply with REX policy manual and all BRE/legal statutes that mandate what agents will do – including visual inspection of property, ensure disclosures are consistent with what you see, sign necessary documents and disclosures

Experience & Qualifications

Our ideal candidate brings the following:

  • Licensed New York real estate agent, with 2 or more years' experience in residential home sales
  • Deep knowledge of the New York, Long Island real estate market and the attractive neighborhoods within it
  • Superb client service and communication skills; able to represent REX to high end clients
    • Able to project confidence that will instill confidence in REX buyers and sellers, balanced with the prudence to know when to ask for help from the team
  • Has a deep understanding of the real estate transaction process, documents and disclosures but not bound by traditional approaches where not legally mandated
    • Brings a perspective on how the residential real estate can be improved to benefit buyers and sellers and motivated to make those improvements reality
  • Business minded, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Demonstrates REX’s brand attributes: tech- and financial-savvy, and a deep desire to make buying and selling of real estate better for consumers.  Innovative and inspired by the potential of changing an industry
    • Embraces new technologies and services and is experienced with collaborative economy companies such as Uber, Airbnb, eTrade, eBay, and eLance
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and web-based research
    • Has experience with web-based collaboration tools and SAAS solutions and able to rapidly learn to the latest tools
  • A high degree of professionalism; able to remain calm and rational in times of confusion, rapid change or other stress
  • A proven ability to carefully follow a process, adhere to guidelines, track progress, and suggest improvements to the process and guidelines over time
  • Patient and detail oriented
  • Good judgment as evidenced by a solid track record of making the right decisions
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively with many types of people
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field
  • Startup experience a plus
